DAWN AT MT. BAKER

Washington State, USA.

Mt. Baker is a popular year-round recreational area in the Pacific Northwest. It is next to the Canada-US border and on clear days presents a spectacular scene all the way from Vancouver BC. During the summer it provides hiking and climbing opportunities while during winter it is a premier ski destination.

On this particular day I left Vancouver about 4am on my first trip to Mt. Baker. My thoughts included the potential of a sunrise in a unique setting. The whole trip was in darkness. Shortly after my arrival at a higher altitude on one of the flanks of the mountain, dawn began to break. For the next 10-15 minutes I was transported to my personal photography heaven. In total quiet I was witness to the most spectacular dawn I had ever experienced. There were no filters used on any of these images. The actual emotions I went through to this day are still beyond words. Enjoy.
